Betty McDowell

Betty started painting in the early 1990s after taking lessons in oils at Whispering Pines. She painted for some 9 years and then set it aside. Since retiring, from Brock University in 2016, Betty got back into to her art. Now she paints mostly with acrylics and does some oil art work.

Her work includes a variety of subject matter, from flowers, birds, landscapes, beaches, birch trees, lighthouses, etc. Lately she has been having fun creating mixed media abstract art and utilizing dried acrylic paint skins. Betty has participated in the “Port Colborne Kindness Rocks “initiative since its inception in 2017.

Betty is a member of the Port Colborne Art Club. She is happiest when she can go into her home art studio and create a painting based on something she has seen or dreamt up. It's fun, challenging and a thrill when it turns out as she imagined.

She thoroughly loves painting and finds it very rewarding and relaxing.
