Events - Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for VAW Gallery Shop

The Visual Artists of Welland had its Grand Opening/Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony at the VAW Gallery Shop at Seaway Mall in Welland on Thursday, October 1, 2020. Over 20 member artists, all local, have their paintings and photography on display and for sale.

With several onlookers social distanced, Co-Presidents Deedee Alexandre and Pam Duncan cut the ribbon along with Mayor Frank Campion, who presented them with a special plaque. Other special guests included Mike Belcastro, President of Seaway Mall, and Vance Badawey, Member of Parliament for Niagara Centre, who presented Deedee and Pam with a certificate from the Government of Canada.

It was a memorable time for all, especially for the 4 artists who had sales that day!

MP Vance Badawey went one step further and offered the VAW members the opportunity to submit a winter scene that would be suitable for his annual Christmas card mail-out this year.

Congratulations to Sharon Macsai, whose painting, Winter Warmth, was chosen for the card! You can see it in the gallery below.
