Kelly Sherwin has been painting with watercolour since 2018. She began developing her skills under the teachings of Dunnville Artist, Gloria Kingma. Kelly also recently found an interest in pastels.
She was born in Windsor and has lived in Niagara Falls, Stevensville, Nashville, Fonthill and Welland. Throughout her childhood, Kelly had a passion for art, including sketching, calligraphy, embroidery and other crafts. She taught art and other subjects to elementary children for 36 years and raised two children, so never found time to pursue her own art, until she retired.
Kelly’s technique is unique in the way it reflects fine detail and she enjoys conveying a sense of emotion in her work. She is influenced by folk art and the Group of Seven. Kelly also has a special love of Aboriginal art. In the future, she looks forward to learning more about technique, new media and art history.
